At long last Little Wing will have a new home and I can put those funds toward a new project. Any ideas???

After a year-long exhibit at the Artist Exposure gallery here in Plymouth, Little Wing is finally back and available for purchase! I'm excited to offer this unique artwork for public sale and am looking forward to finding it a forever home, as they say in adoption circles.

Thought I'd take a few shots of the body with a mockup set of hardware to show what it might look like as a completed instrument. This inculdes a Fender vintage-style tremolo, loaded pickguard, jack plate and customized Fender neck. The hardware is not included in the price of the body, just some parts I had lying around. So almost 7 years ago I joined a site that most people hadn't heard of called Facebook. It was all the rage and I encouraged my friends and family to join me. Fast forward and today and my decision, and action, to finally cut the cord permanently. I want to publicly thank Facebook for helping me to connect and keep up with so many of my friends and family, some long-lost.

My cousin Michelle is an artist and I asked her to put her considerable talents to work on a Swamp Ash Stratocaster and here are the results. The work exceeded my wildest expectations and I'm sorely, sorely tempted to keep this body for myself and build a killer axe out of it.

The next step for the Epi SG after digging out the channels for the splines was to glue them in. Used Titebond 3 glue, as usual. I thought about using wood epoxy here, but because the truss rod cavity was exposed I was afraid that the epoxy might stick to the truss rod and make it useless.

The weather was finally warm enough this past weekend to allow me to strip the old finish off the Les Paul Studio.

As I feared, there just wasn't enough material left in the headstock to hold a repair even with a liberal application of wood epoxy. Everything looked good and sturdy and so I strung it up to test it. It held a tune well and I was able to even play it for a while.
